Blood Drive
During these group hours we helped Katie Jo Schmidt down at the local blood drive. It was split up to where half of our class had the morning shift and the rest had the afternoon shift. I was part of the morning shift. During our time there we helped escort people, ran the front desk, and made sandwiches. Lucy and I ran the front desk. We helped sign people in, make stickers, and give people the reading materials. While I was down there I also donated blood myself. Overall the experience was good. I enjoyed getting to spend time with my class and seeing how well we worked together.
Chisholm Trail Clean Up
For these group hours our class helped clean up the downtown area in preparation for the Chisholm Trail Festival that was coming up a few weeks after. We first started off at the gazebo by pulling weeds, sweeping sidewalks, picking up leaves, and putting new mulch down. I worked with a group of girls by picking weeds. It was by far the worst job of all of them. We were constantly squatted down and the ground was cold and wet. After we finished that our group moved down to the corners of the street to mulch the flowerbeds. By the time we were done with that we finished up by helping Mr. Greenlee set up for his tea party he was having. We finished off by having lunch at the Red Barn. This was easily the best part of the day. After all the hard work we did we were starving.
During my time I learned how important we were to the community. If we wouldn’t have gone and knocked this out in 3 hours someone else would have had to spend their time doing it. Overall I enjoyed getting to spend time with my class outside of the school environment the most. I was very impressed with how well we were able to work together.

Cherokee Strip Run
During my time at the Cherokee Strip Run a few of our classmates got together to work. There were four of us, all of us had missed one of the other group hours so we worked this one to make it up. We had to be there at 6:30 on a Saturday morning which was very early for all of us. When we got there we were quickly put to work to try and get all of the water tables out before the runners passed by them. Three of us went out to put the waters out while one of us stayed to start the time for the runners. I helped put out waters by driving around to put the tables out where it showed on the map. I found it pretty difficult because I had to try to drive and read the map at the same time. Not knowing for sure where I was going put a lot of pressure on me because I didn’t want to put the water in the wrong spot. By the time we were done putting out all six tables we had traveled all the way into Oklahoma and had been driving around for about an hour and a half. When we got back we helped write down times of the runners coming in and hand out goody bags and medals. After that Kolbe and I went back out to pick up all but one of the tables. By the time we got back we got to go home.

Summer Reading Program
Lisa Moreland reached out to me about doing this activity with Abi Schmidt. This was my largest activity throughout my senior project almost meeting the twenty hour requirement. When I started this activity I expected it to be mostly on Wednesdays and Fridays but quickly found out that it was all the time. During my time with this activity Abi and I helped with all kinds of things ranging from simply running to the store to setting up the whole entire library for story time. Overall, it was a good experience. I really enjoyed bonding with the kids that came.
Blood Drive
I became aware of this activity from Lucy Schneider who was hosting the blood drive. During my hours I helped by setting up the tables and chairs and running the front desk with Delaney Mayo. While working the front desk Delaney and I checked people in to the system and made the stickers. At the end I helped pick up the snacks and put the chairs away. Overall the activity was a really fun experience. I enjoyed getting to visit with all the donors.
Vacation Bible School
Michelle Nulik contacted me about helping with this activity, I then made arrangements with Rachel Strekansky about what time I needed to be there and where. During my time there I lead the first grade group around to all of the different stations they had each night. I really enjoyed spending time with such a great group of kids and having them look up to me as a leader.
Art Booth
I contacted my senior advisor, Brooke Kuehny, about this activity. During my time I helped Brooke by checking in art projects and organizing them into the proper categories the first day and then finished up the second day by hanging them up before the judge came. I didn’t realize how much work it was to check the art in and the process of judging.
